Lesson 1: The World of Metals and Welding
1.a: Students will view the film Modern Marvels--Metal to gain an in-depth history and process for manufacturing metals into usable products. They will complete a guided-notes worksheet, which will be discussed in class.
1.b: Students will view the film Modern Marvels--Welding to gain an in-depth history and processes of various types of welding. They will complete a guided-notes worksheet, which will be discussed in class.
1.c: Students will read and watch about the various safety protocols that will be necessary to welding and our laboratory.
1.d: Students will focus on career exploration and develop a project to share what they have learned about the career and further training they will need. Click on the project to follow the steps necessary to complete.
1.e: Students will preview the ppt on welding basics before coming to class. Upon coming to class will be a brief formative assessment quiz.
1.f: Students will complete the Frosting Weld Lab as a practice set before actual welding takes place in the class. A grading rubric is attached to the handout as a formative assessment guide.
